You can help to stop the culling of sharks in the Great Barrier Reef.
Despite Queensland Government research, a federal court ruling, other scientific advice providing direction and a strategy for non-lethal management of sharks, the Queensland Government through the Fisheries Minister, the Hon Mark Furner MP, is pressuring the Australian Government to amend the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Act so sharks can be killed in the waters of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.
Members and supporters of Wildlife Queensland are encouraged to support the Australian Marine Conservation Society in their efforts to conserve sharks.
What you can do
- Go to the Australian Marine Conservation Society petition page and email Minister Furner calling on him to abandon the continued culling of sharks in the Great Barrier Reef and encourage the implementation of non-lethal management techniques.
