Welcome to Wildlife Queensland Gold Coast and Hinterland Branch.

About us

The Gold Coast and Hinterland Branch protects wildlife and their habitats through campaigns such as:

  • Save Our Spit
  • Save Black Swan Lake
  • hinterland protection (including protecting Springbrook)
  • workshops such as nest building workshops
  • submissions
  • public awareness/education activities, such as our annual display on World Environment Day.

We always welcome new members and members to be on the committee.

Nucrush Quarry Proposal Crushed

In September, following years of campaigning by community groups and WPSQ Gold Coast branch,  Councillors voted 8 to 5 to reject the development approval by Nucrush Pty Ltd to extend quarry operations in Oxenford for a further 100 years.

Black Swan Lake has been saved! The remainder of the lake at Bundall on Queensland’s Gold Coast will become a permanent water body.
