Join Wildlife Queensland Bayside Branch at 7 pm on Friday 28 February for their first meeting and talk of 2025 at Alexandra Hills Community Hall, 131–155 Finucane Road, Alexandra Hills.
Seagrass is a keystone habitat in Moreton Bay, essential for the survival of many marine faunal species including dugong, turtles, shorebirds, crustaceans and fish. This talk will showcase how 10 years of data collected by Science Under Sail in Moreton Bay has been used to understand the impact of the 2022 floods on seagrass communities and their subsequent recovery. Dr James Udy will discuss the likely impact climate change will have on Moreton Bay’s seagrass habitats and the consequences of these changes on the faunal communities that depend on them, specifically threatened sea turtles and dugongs.
Meeting Point: Alex Hills Community Hall, 131-155 Finucane Road (near Aldi on the Cnr of Windemere & Finucane Rds)
Time: 7 pm
