Join us for an introduction to the world of Greater Gliders!
Greater gliders are one of the Gold Coast’s most charismatic animals, yet they are still relatively unknown to the wider community. True to their name, greater gliders are the largest gliding marsupials in the world with long fluffy tails and large fluffy ears. In 2021, greater gliders were listed as endangered in Queensland.
The Gold Coast is home to several populations of greater gliders, with important pockets of refugia for these animals existing not far from urban areas. Join Friends of Nerang National Park and Wildlife Queensland to learn about these cryptic nocturnal gliders. This induction will teach you about greater gliders, their ecology, and the threats they are facing.
Upon completion of the induction, you’ll have the chance to register for guided surveys or have the skills to identify and report them on your property and surrounding parks.
