Moth night — light sheet activity & insights

23 November 2022, 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Moths

Book to reserve your spot.

Get to know the other Lepidoptera, moths. Close relatives of our butterflies, moths are doing the night shift pollinating, and are also an important part of the food chain.

Join Brisbane’s Big Butterfly Count and Bulimba Creek Catchment for an exciting activity in the dark. Butterfly and moths experts Wesley Jenkinson and John Moss will introduce you to invertebrate nightlife and especially moths. They will use light traps to attract moths and allow all participants to see some of Australia’s rarely observed biodiversity treasures. Of course, the odd other invertebrate will also be attracted by the light source.

This is an informal fun activity for the entire family. Wear protective clothing and closed shoes. Your kids may want to bring their own torch.

We’ll kick off at 7.00 pm with a presentation and some refreshments, but you’re welcome to arrive from 6.30 pm. The light sheet activity will start at approximately 7.30 pm (depending on the moths being ready for us!).

Entrance and parking: 21 Wright Street, Carindale. Book to reserve your spot.
