WHICH Australian magazine can boast over 40 years of promoting and protecting our precious wildlife? Just one. Since the Wildlife Preservation Society of Queensland was founded in 1962, its flagship journal, WILDLIFE Australia, has played a pivotal role in encouraging public awareness of these vital conservation goals.
Importantly, WPSQ directs any profits from magazine sales to wildlife preservation and highlighting environmental issues. A subscription to WILDLIFE Australia helps promote and protect Australian wildlife.

History and Activities
WILDLIFE Australia has been at the forefront of environmental publishing since its first issue in 1963. During the last four decades, the Society has been involved with numerous initiatives including:
- protection of endangered species like the Mahogany Glider (Petaurus gracilis)
- coordinating wildlife surveys
- coordinating funding breeding/research programs for the Bilby (Macrotis lagotis), a threatened and unique Australian marsupial
- establishing and protecting turtle rookeries
- increasing environment awareness at schools and libraries
- advising state/federal governments about environmental issues
Many of the stories behind these issues have been reported in WILDLIFE Australia - just one of the many ways the magazine makes a direct contribution to helping preserve our wildlife. Find out how you can receive four issues of WILDLIFE Australia every year.
