Our story

Wildlife Queensland Logan Branch runs a range of educational activities and events for branch members and the local community. These include:

  • workshops on various environmental issues of local interest, including wetlands and how to write submissions
  • hosted events, such as the Wildlife Queensland Southern Branches Get-together.

Our branch has also undertaken grants for glider boxes, old-growth mapping and preserving Carbrook Wetlands.

Logan River Mangrovewatch Project

Wildlife Queensland Logan Branch conducts Mangrovewatch along the lower Logan and Albert Rivers, using the Shoreline Video Assessment Methodology (SVAM).

This Citizen Science project has involved Logan residents, students and schools collecting data for scientific analysis that then informs Logan City Council’s management of these valuable ecosystems. Find out more about this ongoing project.

More recently, branch members have dedicated themselves to rehabilitating sections of Cornubia Forest Park and removing invasive pink polka-dot weed.
